AKS has supplied Central Highlands Water with a number of OrbSolar mixers for their water storage dams in regional Victoria.
These mixers are used to de-stratify the body of water to help with water quality conditioning and inhibit algal growth. The OrbSolar destratifies by drawing source water from the lower levels of the Dam and then disperses it over the water surface, raising the dissolved oxygen levels and mitigating against blue green algae development.
As these units came pre-tested, minimal work is required onsite, with installation and commissioning typically completed in day. Each OrbSolar is tethered in position via two cables, providing a stable platform for the mixer to operate.
With powerful battery operation feed from an inbuilt solar panel, each OrbSolar can move about 2ML of water per hour. The system can also be optioned to with an optional turbine in high wind areas, and connected to a SCADA system, if required.
