With a growing clientele and with a desire to safe guard the pristine environment, Mt Buller Resort needed to upgrade its sewage facilities. AKS was asked to assist with an upgrade package to better manage peak flows at the facility. We supplied and commissioned a specially engineered, secondary effluent lamella clarifier, designed to handle 44L/sec. With an all 316 stainless steel design and an automatic sludge discharge system, the clarifier was installed just prior to the new spring snow.
At 12mL x 3mW x 4.4mH, the most challenging part of the project was getting the per-constructed clarifier to site, traveling hundreds of kilometres cross-country and then navigating the tight mountain bends all the way to the Mt Buller Summit on a low trailer. Finally, carefully lifting the clarifier into place using a 220t crane with the aid of two supporting 25t franna cranes.
Mt Buller Resort operates as a comprehensive, ski in and out facility during winter along with a range of summer sporting activities and a relaxation High Alpine Spa Retreat.
